Compounded semaglutide remains off limits to iDexis. This follows the High Court in Pretoria refusing the pharmacy leave to appeal an interim order restricting its activities.
The dispute centres on semaglutide, the GLP-1 receptor agonist used in Novo Nordisk’s Ozempic and Wegovy. The medicines are prescribed for diabetes and weight management.
In June, the court granted an application brought by Danish pharmaceutical manufacturer Novo Nordisk. The interim order prevents iDexis from selling compounded semaglutide products while regulatory investigations are underway. Compounding pharmacies prepare medicines for individual patients where customised formulations are required.
