Rising antimicrobial resistance is pushing South African and African hospitals to strengthen infection prevention and control. As a result, the sector is investing more in equipment, supplies and systems that support safer care.

Hospital supplies market expands

Analysts project the South African hospital supplies market will grow from roughly USD 0.96 billion in 2025 to USD 1.39 billion by 2031. Infection-control disposables are already the largest revenue category. Meanwhile, sterilisation and disinfectant equipment is the fastest-growing segment.
