US health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has set ambitious expectations for AI in healthcare, arguing it should help Americans make their own medical decisions. He wants every American to act as the chief executive of their own health, Bloomberg reported.

Speaking at the MAHA Summit on Wednesday, Kennedy said doctors cannot review long medical records in short consultations. A patient may have a record running to a thousand pages, he said, but only six minutes with a doctor. AI, however, could review the entire record.

Furthermore, he claimed AI could provide a second opinion better informed than that of any doctor in the country. He also said AI can already solve the country's most daunting public health problems.
